Social Matters & Immigration

I believe all individuals regardless of their gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation have a right to be represented, respected, recognized, and be welcomed and safe in our city.  I have a long history in support of social justice.  I am a member of a DACA/ Immigration collaborative in Watsonville that has organized and provided informational workshops for the community. I was one of six women who organized the 2017 Santa Cruz County Women’s March and later lead a SCWM financial campaign to support DACA and Dreamers. I organized a rally in Watsonville prior to the march and later that year, the International Women’s Day in Watsonville. I am a strong supporter of LGBTQI rights and a newly formed group of young Latinxs to bring more awareness to issues faced by womxn in our community.

My Commitment:

  • To support the prohibition of the use of City resources to support the enforcement of civil immigration laws and laws that penalize a person’s presence, entry, or reentry into the U.S.
  • Advocate for our Dreamers and DACA students' rights.
  • I will continue to stand with and support our LGBTQI community.
  • Collaboration with the community, and its agencies to build a safe, and welcoming city.
  • Be accessible and open, and include my constituents in the discussion.
