Sustainable Economic Development

I believe that Watsonville stands to gain great benefits from sustainable economic development whether it be affordable housing, retail stores, or the addition of locally owned businesses.

Development is successful for its city's residents and the city itself when revenue stream is not the only consideration.  I will continue to advocate, research, and be thoughtful about our city's landscape, natural resources, traffic, and affect on the residents, when making decisions on behalf of the city and its residents.

My experience in understanding and managing large budgets as a CEO of a successful non-profit and my understanding of ordinances and zoning, during my present 5-year experience on the planning commission, makes me uniquely qualified to ensure sustainable economic development.

My Commitment:

  • Continual education on successful and sustainable economic development.
  • Reinforce the Project Labor Agreement (PLA), a partnership between the City and the Building Trades, to ensure we increase local apprenticeship programs.
  • Fiscal responsibility.
  • Stewardship of our parks, wetlands, and neighborhoods for families to enjoy now, and for future generations.
  • Be accessible and open, and include my constituents in the discussion.
